Sami and friends

Sami and Friends is an animal rescue and placement project set up by Oana Gusatu in 2018.

Sami and her friends are (for most part) Romanian stray dogs adopted in the US. It all started with Sami, who showed up outside Oana's house in Eastern Romania, one cold and wet November morning. Her mom took her in, although she was already housing other 2 stray dogs and 5 stray cats.

Sami spent 5 happy months there, making friends with the other animals, enjoying good food and long walks on the fields. But when the house was sold in 2018, Oana decided that there’s no way Sami would go back on the streets. The only solution was to bring her to the US.

3 months later she was arriving at SeaTac airport in Seattle, ready to start her new life in the US. Her first new friends (Blanka and Oliver) soon found their way out of Romania and into loving homes in the US and the UK. Then followed Clara and Mia.

Many other friends are waiting back in Romania, longing for a loving family and a forever home. To be able to help more of them, Oana and Dana (Founder of Voice For The Needy) joined forces and, in February 2020, Sami and Friends became a Voice For The Needy project.
